Holidays

Well what a better way to start my Blog then with a holiday!

I have been holidaying on the coast for a week and my-oh- my, what a difference it has made.

There's something about a change of scenery, routine and activities that leaves you re-energized yet relaxed.

Holidays give you permission to disconnect from work, bills, house maintenance, friends, family and other responsibilities. It's almost a conscious, justified decision to go into temporary denial about all issues that do not create a feeling of peace and happiness. I love that!

Environment:
Looking out over the moon-light shimmering ocean and artificially coloured twinkling sky rise buildings filled my lungs with a deep, deep breath - hmmm that had been awhile I thought. A difference in the room’s environment from the smell, height, size, view, facilities, soaps, company, linen it makes us feel and think differently.

Routine:
Hmmm I think I'll go for a walk this morning before breakfast, and for breakfast instead of weetbix I'm having a chocolate croissant and latte, instead of going to the office I think I'll go horse riding on the beach and then after an afternoon nap I'll have a leisurely bath. What else would I like to do today?

Changing it up can be invigorating and makes us feel that we don't have any rules and we are in full control.

Activities:
Engaging in the same activities but in a different place or with different people or completely new activities can be exciting or challenging. Saturating the senses enables us to disconnect from our day-to-lives, allows us the space for relaxation, clarity, calmness and in turn encourages our ability to solve our own problems. Such as identifying what's missing that we'd like more of or what we have too much of and therefore need to let go of. It can also be an opportunity to spend time with others on a different level. It also fulfils those parts of us that yearn for excitement, fun, adventure, connection, freedom, resilience, serenity, inspiration, relaxation and happiness.

Whether or not these changes go noticed or not, I think holidays are a fantastic way to change things up, relax and reward ourselves for our productivity and responsibility.

When is your next holiday? Or how can you incorporate some holiday themes into your normal day? What is your idea of an ultimate holiday experience?
